Cookie Preparation
- Chocolate chip cookies are the clear favorite! Other popular choices include oatmeal, peanut butter, molasses, ginger, and sugar cookies. Rice Krispies Treats are always welcome, too.
- Cookies should be 2–2½ inches in diameter and no more than ½ inch thick..
- You may bake cookies from scratch or purchase and bake pre-measured, frozen chocolate chip cookie dough from Gordon Food Service.
Important: Please Do NOT
- Do not use icing, powdered sugar, sprinkles, or any other coating on the outside of the cookies.
- Do not add fruits or nuts.
- Do provide store-bought, ready-to-eat cookies.
Packing Your Cookies
- Allow cookies to cool completely before packaging. Cookies that are still warm may stick together or crumble.
- Place one dozen completely cooled cookies in each one-gallon Ziploc-style bag. Please do not use bags with a plastic zipper/slider tab.
- If you bake your cookies more than three days before the collection date, please freeze them, if possible, until it is time to drop them off
- Note: All cookies in a bag need to be the same type..
The Key Ingredient: Prayer
As you bake, take time to pray—individually, as a family, or as a group. Ask God to use these cookies as a tangible expression of His love to the inmates and staff during the Kairos weekend. Pray that each cookie will help the inmate, officer, or staff member who receives it experience God's love and be drawn closer to Him. Our prayer is that every person would come to know what it means to experience God's love in their life.
