Tri-Village Christian Church began in the spring of 1961 with a group in the Jersey area. The first service was held on July 9, 1961. Meetings and worship services were held in various homes. By the early spring of 1962, the congregation moved to the basement of the town hall in Pataskala.

In the summer of 1963, Nick Joseph was called to be the first full time minister. The Central Ohio Evangelistic Fellowship gave support to the church. The name “Tri-Village” was selected because of the location near the villages of Pataskala, Granville, and Alexandria. In 1965, five acres of land were purchased on the corner of Route 16 and York Road. The building at 4877 York Road was occupied in 1966.

During the 1980s and 1990s, the church experienced significant numerical growth causing the need for the church leadership to plan for future growth. In 1991, the church purchased 46+ acres of property for relocation. The new facility, at 5310 York Road, was occupied on June 1, 1997. A dedication service was held on June 8, and the following Sunday, two morning worship services were held. In September 1999, a third morning worship service was added.

The facility at 4877 York Road was used as a youth building for Junior and Senior High from 1997 to 2003. In the spring of 2003, the facility at 4877 York Road was sold. Construction began on “Phase Two” of the new facility in the summer of 2002 and was completed in the summer of 2003. The “Phase Two” or “YAAC” (Youth and Adult Activity Center) opened in the summer of 2003. It includes a gym, several classrooms, and support space. In addition to the expansion, the first phase of the facility was remodeled to expand the worship area. With increased seating made available, the church returned to two-morning worship services in September 2003. With anticipated growth, the church leadership developed a master-site plan, which included at least two more phases of construction. A larger worship center will be part of those plans, with necessary support space.

In April 2004, the congregation approved changing the name from Tri-Village Church of Christ to Tri-Village Christian Church. The leadership felt this would better identify us as “Christians only” and serve towards the Purpose Statement of “We exist for the purpose of making disciples, maturing believers, and meeting needs to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ.”
